Ikigai and Lifelong Habits Every Doctor Recommends
Have you read about Ikigai? As a doctor, I have noticed certain habits that are essential for a lifetime!
On the Okinawa island in Japan, people aged 90-100 live actively, healthily, and happily. Their secret lies in simple habits, social connections, and having a purpose in life (Ikigai).
Life-changing lessons from their lifestyle:
1. Purpose (Ikigai): Have a reason to wake up in the morning, not just for money but for satisfaction.
2. Light, balanced diet: - Eat until 80% full (Hara Hachi Bu rule). - Include vegetables, fruits, lentils, fish, and omega-3 rich foods. - Reduce sugar and processed foods.
3. Daily physical activity: walking, light household chores, stretching.
4. Laughter (Laughter Therapy): Laughing sincerely every day reduces mental stress and boosts immunity.
5. Social gatherings: Spending time with friends, family, neighbors is more protective than loneliness.
6. Stress reduction: Meditation, hobbies, enjoying small pleasures.
7. Connection with nature: Time outdoors, trees, natural tranquility.
8. Positive mindset: Optimism, gratitude, viewing life joyfully.
