Before the Report: Your Body Signals a Disturbed Metabolism

Just For Hearts2 min read

Your metabolism often gets disturbed and your body starts giving signals even before lab reports confirm it.

1. Belly fat increases without significant weight gain → your body is storing fat, usage has decreased. 2. Morning fatigue despite enough sleep, low energy throughout the day → your body isn't producing energy efficiently. 3. Heaviness, sluggishness, and sleepiness after meals → sugar is being stored instead of used. 4. Sugar levels rise quickly even after eating a little → beginning of insulin resistance. 5. Fat loss doesn't occur despite exercise → your metabolism isn't responding to exercise. 6. Reports are normal, but the body doesn't feel right internally → numbers are fine, but the process is disturbed. 7. No hunger at meal times, but cravings occur unnecessarily, and a disturbed rhythm is felt → indicates confused hormones.

Now, tests that diagnose a disturbed metabolism:

1. Increased Waist circumference → even if BMI is normal, metabolic risk is elevated. 2. Fasting sugar is normal, but Post-meal sugar rises significantly → early insulin resistance. 3. HbA1c is borderline / slowly increasing → indicates metabolism is already disturbed. 4. High Triglycerides and low HDL → classic metabolic syndrome pattern. 5. Increased TG : HDL ratio → an early indicator of heart-risk due to disturbed metabolism. 6. Fatty liver on USG (even without alcohol) → metabolism isn't handling fat properly. 7. Slightly elevated Liver enzymes (SGPT/ALT) → indicates fatty liver and metabolic stress. 8. Blood pressure is slowly creeping up → not just one reading, the trend is important. 9. Fasting insulin / HOMA-IR (select cases) → a direct test for insulin resistance. 10. High Uric acid → related to metabolism and insulin resistance. 11. Slightly elevated hs-CRP → low-grade metabolic inflammation.

Before increasing medication, before fearing:

* Assess your metabolism (signs + trends + tests combined). * Recognize the signals. * Take action at the right time.

Improving metabolism is the real preventive treatment.

In the next post, we'll discuss where to start improving metabolism. Until then, write your questions in the comments.
