Sugar, BP, Cholesterol, Fatty Liver: Not Separate Diseases, But One Metabolic Problem

Just For Hearts2 min read

Sugar, BP, Cholesterol, Fatty Liver might seem like separate diseases, but they fundamentally stem from a single underlying issue: Metabolism (the body's internal functioning).

Let's understand why Metabolism gets disturbed in simple terms (the facts):

1. **Constant sitting (Sedentary lifestyle: more sitting, less movement)** When the body doesn't move, Muscles don't use Sugar. Sugar remains in the Blood, requiring more Insulin, and gradually leading to Insulin Resistance.

2. **Late heavy meals (Eating late at night)** At night, the body is in Repair and Clean-up Mode. Eating late, heavy meals forces the body to store Fat. This impacts Weight, Sugar, and Cholesterol levels.

3. **Frequent snacking throughout the day** The body never gets "Rest." Insulin is constantly secreted, and Metabolism gets confused. Hunger, Sugar, and Fat Control all start to go awry.

4. **Sleep disturbance (Poor Sleep / insufficient or disturbed sleep)** Sleep is not a Luxury; it's a Metabolic necessity. Lack of Sleep disrupts Appetite Hormones, Sugar Control, and BP. "Less Sleep, more Diseases" is a simple equation.

5. **Chronic Stress (Mental Stress)** Stress Hormones put the body in "Survival Mode." In this state, Fat storage increases, and Sugar control is lost. Stress is not just a Mental issue; it's a Metabolic Problem.

6. **Sugar & Refined Carbs (Sweets, maida, bakery items)** These foods don't provide "Energy"; they put a sudden Sugar Load on the body. Metabolism gets confused, and this is where Fatty Liver, Diabetes, and Cholesterol begin. (Simply put: when you eat these, the body gets confused and doesn't know what to do.)

7. **Low Daily Movement (NEAT is low)** Even if you Exercise, if the remaining 23 hours are spent sitting, the benefit is limited. Metabolism works daily, not just once a week. Moving throughout the day is extremely important for Metabolism.

8. **Treatment based only on Reports (Report-based Thinking)** Sugar, BP, Cholesterol are just Numbers. The real question is, how is the body functioning internally? Without improving Metabolism, Reports don't improve or stay stable.

What does 25+ years of experience tell us?

These Diseases are not separate. They are all different manifestations of the same disturbed Metabolism.

Increasing one Medicine doesn't solve the problem. If Metabolism improves, all Reports automatically start to improve.

Sometimes, even with a proper Lifestyle, Metabolism gets disturbed, and it becomes necessary to find the Underlying cause. We will discuss this in detail in a separate Post.
