Social media is an integral part of our day to day modern life and with the advancement of technology and the availability of smart devices at low costs, the doors of social media have opened up to almost every child. For the ones who receive a slightly stronger resistance and terms of access to such social media either from parents or for any other reason, the ways are ample to get around the corner and catch a glimpse at that lucrative section of life, Social Media.
While the seniors are facing troubles coping up with the addiction of social media and the correct and incorrect usage, we do not expect a child to understand and respect every guideline in the book. Access to materials that are generally out of reach, knowledge that is prohibited have always attracted everyone since the childhood and what with a Pandora’s box called the social media, it has now become open to every child.

There are causes and effects to everything and as such the awkward mental growth or rather exposure to before time content to the kids only result in a mental disturbance and even at times to hindrances in mental growth.
What with all the wrong types of people prowling the web, internet bullying and ragging has become a common incident. Following multiple such incidents, the victimized children have developed phobia to even move out of their homes.
The growth of technology and the availability of technology is not always a boon in disguise. The more that it is a boon the more it is a curse to the society if the proper barriers and ground rules are not set down. While a child is not capable to understand what is good or bad for itself, the parents surely can take the initiative and indulge the child in activities that will naturally refrain the kid from the addiction to social media and/ or networks. We did not grow up so modern and yet we grew up to be smart.
Trying to run beyond time and outsmart the natural flow never has good impact. As H.G.Wells so rightly pointed out in his book “The Time Machine”, give your kids the chance to grow up the way they should and do not throw them into the jungle of social media to be eaten up by the vultures…
