Sleep problems Having proper sleep is very difficult these days. Our daily hectic schedule doesn’t allow to have a well required 6-8 hours’ sleep. This problem is majorly faced by the employees of IT companies and BPOs. Keeping the same purpose in mind, we conducted a health talk on 4th December 2013 in a Pune-based IT company.
Our clinical psychologist Dr. Sanjyot Deshpande in association with our Dietician Pooja Jadhav successfully conducted the session for 90 minutes. The session was started telling the importance of sleep and how does it affect our mental and physical health. Around 55-60 people attended the session and made it very interactive. The common questions asked during the session were:
- What is the connection between snoring and sleeping?
- For how much time should one sleep?
- Can you suggest solutions for shift sleeping?
- What is sleep apnea?
As per our Speaker, it is necessary to sleep for at least 7-9 hours a day. Many people snore loudly after sleeping. Snoring is caused due to fat accumulation in your neck. This is mostly seen in alcoholic or obese people. If you snore loudly, snort, gasp, or make choking sounds while you are sleeping, or your partner notices that your breathing stops for short periods. It is known as sleep apnea. One can have a sleep chart or cover up their sleep in nap breaks.
All the questions were delightfully answered by our psychologist. We really appreciate the management’s efforts to make this event a grand success. They really served as good hosts.
