There are many alternatives like curd, paneer, cheese, soya milk, tofu etc. which can be substituted for milk. Alternatively, if a child disliking milk, can accept, porridge, puddings or kheer etc. the milk allowance for him/her can be met equally adequately. It should be borne in mind that no more than 500 ml of milk is required for a normal growing child which can easily be met by using the same in any form in the meal preparation over the whole day.
