It is scorching hot outdoors and the air conditioning indoors is as bad – both ways bodily fluids are drained. Keeping the body hydrated is the call of the season. Pangs of thirst feels more urgent and food seems to be a distant need. One would much rather survive on fruits and feel light, cool and fresh. Though some of the fruits are good for summers, there are some which are ideal. Here is a list of those fruits which can make this summer a very healthy one – the choice is open to all.
The cool cucumber is delight to munch on a hot sweaty day. Full of anti oxidants, potassium and loaded with water, a little lemon rub, a little black salt and the cucumber is ready to be the coolest (literally) snack.
The summers are synonymous with watermelon, what with the juices and the salads being an everyday fare. Made up of about 90% water, it is a calcium booster and a vitamin mine. An ideal choice to beat the summer heat are those chilled watermelon slices.
Oranges are good to go on the plate, inside out – rind, pulp and juice. A seasonal fruit, Oranges give a kick start towards a healthy liver and glowing skin. A good way to experiment with this fruit is to scrap in some orange zest into the curd and eat it chilled for summers.
The magical strawberries are a favorite with one and all. For the children it is just about strawberry ice creams and milk shakes, for women it is a beauty fruit to be savored and eaten (dipped in chocolate sauce) and for the men it might just be the fruit to be enjoyed with a glass of good wine. Any which ways it is a delightful fruit for the summers and works its magic by reducing wrinkles and inflammations.
A favored fruit by the royals and eaten in bunches (literally), the grapes are a royal choice for a reason – its anti ageing property. A great cure for migraine, grapes in summers make a great salad along with pineapple and apple.
A Guava is always a great fruit to eat, either ripe or a little raw. A great source of vitamin C, munching on a guava with a little salt and paprika powder in the summers is a perfect snack to keep the hunger pangs at bay.
These summer fruits have 90% water in them by weight. They are nutritious as well as filling in a healthy way. If one takes on summer heat this way than it would be a fruit filled way to beat the summer heat!
