Our diet plays a major role in the maintenance of our health. What we eat affects our heart and our lives in general. The modern lifestyle is such that we focus more on ready to eat foods or fast foods etc., basically the main components of our diet is unhealthy and has adverse effects on our lives. Our lifestyle today leaves us with not much time to take care of our diet, this is the reason that only only adults but children also are becoming victims of obesity.

Following are the few queries that came in. This will give a gist of how to go about managing your daily schedules and food habits.
Q. Is traditional food fit to be considered as a part of our regular diet?
A. Yes absolutely. The components of our traditional food is healthy, the only fact to be kept in mind is to keep the quantity of spices and oil moderate. The healthy oil for heart is; olive oil, sesame oil and sunflower oil.
Q. As being a marketing professional I just want to ask how to balance our diet plan in this hectic and running life ?
A. Always make sure to have a heavy breakfast, then even missing on the lunch would be fine. Also do not skip snacks, try having fruit juices at intervals. And the most important thing to keep in mind is, drink plenty of water.
Q. Can eating non vegetarian food affect our heart?
A. Not all non-veg preparations are bad for your heart. Fish is very healthy, chicken with skin removed is a great source of protein to your body, the white of egg is also good though avoid eating the yellow part. Also try and avoid eating meat. Besides all these, the point to remember is to use less oil in all the preparations, preferably in olive oil, sesame oil or sunflower oil.
Q. I live in as a paying guest and thus depend a lot on packed foods and restaurant meals.Can you suggest anything that can be cooked fast and is healthy at the same time?
A. Eating fruits regularly is the easiest and the best recipe but along with this eating proper meals is important, focus on green leafy vegetables. Daily intake of fruits helps our body detoxify as well as helps us in keeping our heart healthy.
Q. I am a businessman and have long working hours. I have to go for meetings very often and there I end up eating unhealthy food. My schedule leaves me with no time to exercise. What is that I can do to keep myself healthy keeping my lifestyle in mind ?
A. Even though you are busy , you can always opt for ‘QRT’ that is quick relaxation techniques for mental stress and office yoga which can be done even if u get 5 – 10 minutes break in between.
As far as food is concerned go for regular fruit intake, it will keep you stay healthy, no juice have fruits. And even if you are travelling you can try to specify your preference to the chef to cook less oily and less spicy food and opt for vegetables always.
