Cold, dry weather of fall and winter make your skin dry, itchy, red, and uncomfortable. Your skin needs extra moisture to combat these problems. Here are some tips that can help maintain the suppleness of your skin and improve its look.
1. Avoid hot water and long duration shower
You may like to have a long, warm shower, but excess hot water increases the dryness of your skin. Therefore, you can have a shower of Luke warm water. Centres for Disease as Control and Prevention (CDC) Says that Lukewarm water is more effective and is less irritating to the skin.
2. Exfoliate with gentle scrubs
If you exfoliate your skin regularly, you can discard the skin of dead cells. Then apply moisturizer to enter the skin better. Additionally, Exfoliation helps increase cellular renewal and brings new, moist skin cells to the outer skin and maintains the hydration longer. It is better to use gentle scrubs to exfoliate during the winters and do it at least once a week.
3. Moisturize your skin
In winter moisturizer is an essential thing to make the skin soft and glow. Though there are so many moisturising creams are available in the market, natural moisturising ingredients not only cheap but also healthy. This help maintains the moisture of the skin and doesn’t let us feel the effects of winter.
The mixture of milk cream and honey is one of the best moisturizers. When milk cream makes the skin supple and soft, honey reduces the effect of bacteria which is responsible for causing pimples.
Similarly, you can use the mixture of cocoa butter and olive oil to give proper nourishment to the skin. Take one tablespoon of both the ingredients, mix properly and apply it on your face, neck, and hands. After 30 minutes, you can wash your face with Luke warm water.
The application of night cream can hydrate the skin properly. Some common natural moisturizers include banana and milk, aloe vera and almond, papaya and raw milk etc.
4. Wear a Scarf
The harsh cold waves of winter make the skin dry, scaly, and rough. Additionally, the cold weather gives rise to many diseases like flu, headache, nasal consumption etc. To protect your skin from the terrible cold use a scarf to cover your face and neck, and wear a hat or woollen cap to protect your forehead.
5. Take enough drinks
Though we use different types of moisturizers on our skin, it needs to be hydrated from inside out. Therefore, you have to drink 2-3 litres of water every day. You can also fulfil this quantity by taking coconut water; fresh fruit juices etc and can make your skin healthy in winter.
